Smarter Bean Imports and Brew Analysis
Beanstats 2.20.0 brings more details in from your roaster’s website and helps you understand how each brew compares with your history.
Smarter Bean Import from the Web
Paste a coffee product page and Beanstats now reads structured product data first, then falls back to the shop platform and the page itself. Import works on many more Shopify, WooCommerce, Squarespace, and independent roaster sites, even without Apple Intelligence. Names, roasters, prices, bag sizes, origins, processes, varieties, roast levels, tasting notes, availability, and product photos are extracted more reliably across multiple languages.
Product photos are imported into the bean form automatically when available. Turn this off with Import Product Photos in Settings, Tracking.
Brew Analysis
Home brew details now compare a brew with other brews made using the same method. Once there are at least three other brews made using the same method, a concise narrative calls out meaningful differences in time, ratio, temperature, flow, and rating. Premium uses complete history; free accounts use the last 30 days.
Brew Details, Redesigned
- Cleaner section headings and adaptive parameter and equipment layouts across iPhone and iPad
- Date, time, and rating are easier to find, including a Rate brew action for unrated brews
- Brew Analysis groups the scale and extraction charts, followed by the taste profile
- A visible Expand chart action complements the chart’s long-press shortcut
- Improved chart units, VoiceOver values, legends, large-text layouts, and Close chart label
- Compare opens directly on brew selection and preserves the original reference brew
Live Filter Brewing
Fast pour-over brews no longer run off the live flow chart. The chart expands smoothly from 15 up to 30 g/s after sustained high flow, never shrinks during the brew, and still ignores isolated spikes when calculating the saved peak.
Bean Improvements
- Duplicate Bean now keeps roaster, roast, bag count, SCA score, URL, freshness settings, varieties, and photos while giving the copy a new identity
- Beans without purchase dates, roast dates, or roasters stay at the end of sorted lists in either direction
- SCA scores must be between 0 and 100
- Blend percentages accept comma or period decimal separators
- Cancelling a variety edit now discards the draft, including a newly started variety
- Bean prices are hidden with the rest of Cost Tracking when that feature is off
- Best Recipe respects metric and imperial units
Import, Backup, and Data Fixes
- Backups accept ISO 8601 dates with fractional seconds
- Restoring the same backup with Skip duplicates off creates unique records while preserving relationships
- Re-importing Beanconqueror frozen beans no longer duplicates freeze entries, deducts brew weights twice, or overwrites a later manual thaw
- Editing a brew’s water amount or profile updates both profiles’ usage correctly
More Fixes
- Espresso durations of 60 seconds or longer remain intact when editing or repeating a brew
- Brew-by-weight targets use the selected unit system and convert correctly for the scale
- Short, dense scale captures no longer fail while smoothing the detail chart
- Taste profile axes consistently place Bitterness before Body and switch to a readable list at large text sizes
- Cost-per-cup statistics include every priced brew while ratings still use rated brews
- Brew Activity widgets align to Monday without adding an extra week
- The expanded chart’s close button uses the correct icon-only styling
Happy brewing!
