Statistics
The Statistics tab opens with short summaries of your coffee habits, a main chart, and key figures. Expandable groups let you explore the details without showing every chart at once, and links from the summaries take you to the relevant beans, methods, and equipment.
Charts adapt to your usage. Sections for features you are not tracking are hidden, and a chart without data explains what you need to record to fill it. New users see a getting-started card while they build up their brew history.
Navigation
Use the navigation at the top to switch between sections:
- Overview - Summaries, the main chart, and key figures
- Beans - Bean-related statistics
- Brews - Brewing statistics

- Costs - Spending analytics, shown when cost tracking is enabled
- Cafés - Cafe visit statistics

Insights
Expand the Insights group, where Beanstats looks for patterns in your brews rather than just counting them.
Taste Profile
Once five brews have taste feedback, a radar chart summarises your palate and calls out the dimension you lean toward. Below five, a progress bar shows how far along you are.
Insight Cards
Up to three cards, picked by how strong the pattern is:

Every card carries a footnote explaining what it is based on, such as “Based on 80 brews with Ethiopian” or “From 12 of 45 espresso brews rated 4★+”, so you can judge how much to read into it.
A What to Buy Next card appears once you have eight or more rated brews, suggesting what to look for in your next bag.

Beans Section

Freshness charts use the same windows as Brew Readiness, including the Fading phase. Beans past peak follows your default brewing style and custom rest days. Freezer duration stops accumulating once an entry is fully thawed.

Top Rated
Alongside the favorites, Top Rated lists rank by average brew rating instead of usage count: Top Rated Beans, Top Rated Roast Levels, Top Rated Origins, Top Rated Roasters, Top Rated Varieties, and Top Rated Processing. Items need a minimum number of rated brews before they appear, so a single lucky brew doesn’t top the list.
Rating by Price Tier
See how your brew ratings correlate with bean price:

When both filter and espresso brews have ratings, two cards compare average ratings between the two styles.

Rating by Temperature
Shows average brew ratings grouped by temperature buckets:

Rating by Water Hardness
When water tracking is enabled, brews are bucketed by the general hardness (GH) of their linked water profile, using the standard classification, and the chart shows the average rating per bucket:

Extraction Heatmap
A visual 3×3 grid showing how your brews cluster across extraction characteristics:
- Y-axis: Strong / Medium / Weak
- X-axis: Sour / Balanced / Bitter
- Each cell shows the brew count and average rating
- Cells are colored by frequency
Only shown when extraction grid data exists.
Dialing-In Learning Curve
A line chart showing your average rating at each brew sequence number (#1 through #10) across all beans. This reveals how your ratings improve with each subsequent brew of a bean, your typical dialing-in curve.

Cafés Section
See unique cafes, visits, and your rate of discovering new places. Explore a map of visited cafes, discoveries over time, your most visited cafes, and favourite drinks. Record a location on a cafe brew to include it on the map.
Caffeine Section
When caffeine tracking is enabled, this section shows total caffeine, daily and per-brew averages, days over your configured limit, intake trends, time-of-day and weekday patterns, and top caffeine sources. See Caffeine Tracking for how the app calculates its estimates.
These statistics cover your logged home and cafe brews. The separate caffeine dashboard also includes intake recorded by other apps in Apple Health.

Charts automatically adapt to your selected date range:

Interaction
- Tap or drag across a chart to inspect values
- Selected bar highlights with accent color

- Average trend lines leave gaps for periods without data instead of drawing through them
Date Range Filtering
Use the range picker at the top of Statistics to choose the period. The available ranges are:
- Last 7 days
- Last 30 days
- Last 90 days
- Last year
- All time
Favorites Display
Favorite sections show your top 10 items ranked by usage:
- Rank number (1-10)
- Item name
- Usage count
- Progress bar showing relative popularity
Lifetime Subtitles
When viewing a filtered time range (not “All time”), many stat tiles show a subtitle with your lifetime total. This provides context for how the filtered count compares to your overall usage.
For example, when viewing “Last 30 days”:
- Value: “5” (beans tried in last 30 days)
- Subtitle: “47 lifetime” (total beans ever tried)

Units
Weight values respect your unit system preference:
- Metric: grams (g) and kilograms (kg)
- Imperial: ounces (oz) and pounds (lb)
